Case report: Rheumatoid arthritis with evolution to Felty syndrome “The sunrise’s of body rigidity”

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, extra-articular inflammatory systemic autoimmune disease. It has a predilection for joints, with the synovial membrane being the first compromised structure. Subsequently, it spreads to the surrounding elements, altering cartilages, ligaments, membrane and bones. On the other hand, systemic inflammatory changes can
affect other organs such as heart, lungs, kidney, skin and eyes, among others, or the hematopoietic system or the  neuropsychiatric sphere. If it does not receive adequate treatment, it usually progresses to joint destruction and functional alteration and increases mortality. The etiology of RA is unknown. It is accepted that an environmental exposure or triggering
factor may act in predisposed patients. Data is known about different toxic, sexual, environmental, infectious and genetic predisposition agents, which can favour its appearance. The research had its general objective to Analyses the clinical case in which a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and her deformities evolves into Felty syndrome, with decreased alteration
of the white blood cells dripping (neutropenia), polyarthritis and swelling of the spleen. As a method, the retrospective, descriptive study was used. A patient with a diagnosis of RA was included, under follow-up in the clinical department of the Regional Hospital of Paraguarí. Clinical, surgical, epidemiological and laboratory variables were determined.
